Global game platform Roblox has enjoyed an amazing second quarter this year, reporting a significant increase in their revenue and player engagement. The company brings millions of people together through their online platform, so it's no surprise to such such impressive growth as more users log on to create games, indulge in shared experiences, or just get cozy around the virtual fireplace in games like Cabin Roleplay.
Roblox's revenue in the second quarter of 2024 (April – June) reached $893.5 million, which is a 31% increase compared to the same quarter last year. But it's not just Roblox's finances that are seeing an increase.
The average daily active users count for Roblox climbed another 21% year-over-year to 79.5 million users. Users are spending 17.4 billion hours on the platform, which is a 24% increase from 2023. The average number of monthly unique payers also grew by 22% to 16.5 million.
David Baszucki, founder and CEO of Roblox, attributes this success to the platform's unique and global appeal and promises continued investment in it for "better and safe experiences."
For the third quarter, the Roblox Corporation has reported a predicted revenue between $860 million and $885 million, with a net loss between $255 million and $275 million. This is slightly more than the Q2 2024 net loss of $207.2 million, with a revenue that is less than the reported Q2 revenue, so it's possible that Roblox will see less of an increase in the third quarter this year.
